Presidents Welcome
by Carol Evans, Commander
 US Navy, Retired

Dear Fellow Officers and Auxiliary Members,

As a member of the Military Officers Association of America, you are undoubtedly familiar with the valuable services provided by that organization.  However, you may not be aware that there is, in this area, a local Chapter established in 1978 that is essentially autonomous and self-supporting, and is dedicated to serving the interests of all active, retired, National Guard, and Reserve officers, as well as spouses and survivors.

The Sierra Nevada Chapter is proud to be a part of MOAA’s “One Powerful Voice” that is heard by our Legislative Representatives in supporting a strong National Defense, and protecting Veterans, Retirees, and Surviving Spouses rights and benefits.  As a member of the Chapter, you’ll be kept up to date on legislative initiatives that affect Active Duty, Veterans, and Retired benefits.  In these days of uncertainty, your membership and support are more vital than ever.  Additionally, the Chapter sponsors a wide range of programs and activities throughout the year, such as:

      ●   Quarterly dinner meetings in Reno, NV include: guest speakers, national legislative update
presentations, and networking for members and spouses.

●    Liaison with other local veterans and military service groups.

●    A quarterly newsletter with local and national MOAA news of interest.

●    Presentation of awards and scholarship to ROTC and JROTC units.

      ●    Spouse luncheon socials and a December Military Ball.

      ●    Supporting the Veterans Guest House.

We offer a one-year free membership (application attached) to current MOAA National members; and, to new members who become National members concurrently. This will give you an opportunity to become familiar with our Chapter and its superb membership.  (Our normal annual dues are only $20.00 per year for active and retired military, and $5.00 per year for spouses of deceased military officers).

Questions?  Please call me at (775) 741-6487.

Sincerely,

Carol A. Evans
